This route is plotted on the island of Texel, which, unlike the other Wadden Islands, has a long geological history. Although the route in terms of motor kilometers starts and ends with the exit and exit of the ferry in 't Horntje on Texel, the route starts and ends in terms of experience when entering and exiting the ferry in Den Helder.
The route runs through a number of different landscapes. The old land of Texel forms the core of the island and consists of boulder clay hills formed in the penultimate ice age (Saalien), which were largely covered by cover sand in the last ice age (Weichselien). The rest of the island is much younger and consists of dunes along the North Sea coast and reclaimed salt marshes along the Wadden coast.
The tour starts and ends in the ferry port 't Horntje on Texel.
Please note: It is recommended to drive this route in spring or autumn, outside the school holidays.
