Description by the author

This walking route takes you through the largest prehistoric site in the world in Avebury. The stone circle that surrounds the village is larger than the more famous Stonehenge and the many burial mounds that surround the village are among the largest in the world (Sidbury Hill is even the largest in Europe). Because of these historically very important remains, the area, together with Stonehenge, is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The walk will prove that it deserves double this prestigious title.
