Description by the author

This walk starts at the station of Fort William. The first part goes towards the Caledonian Canal, through the start of Glen Nevis. The Caledonian Canal was completed in 1822. The route passes here along Neptune's Staircase. It consists of no less than 8 locks in a row. The route follows the canal further to the mouth in Loch Linnhe. You walk further south along the shore of Loch Linnhe to Fort William.
