Description by the author

Dover is a southern English city located just 45 kilometers from the French Calais. Because of its location near the mainland, Dover has long been the gateway to England par excellence. Because of this important function, Dover has developed into a crucial military location and there are still a lot of remains of it. The walk itself takes you through the historic center of Dover as well as the aforementioned military strongholds such as Dover Castle and the Grand Shaft. Instead of continuing directly to your final destination, it is certainly worthwhile to make a stopover in Dover, as you will not regret it.
