Short on time in London? Or looking for the ideal introduction to this city? Then we absolutely recommend doing the walk along the Thames. For more than six kilometers we follow the river and pass numerous sights.

From Tower Hill tube station we are at the Tower of London. In this medieval castle you can visit the crown jewels. No doubt a visit is worthwhile, but you have to pay £ 25 p.p. for this. Nearby is the iconic Tower Bridge. The bridge dates from 1894 and was operated with a steam engine until the 70s. Now you can walk on foot and it has become a major tourist attraction.

London's most famous market, Borough Market, is somewhat hidden under a railway bridge. Once we have found this special place, we end up in the hustle and bustle. We find plenty of delicacies there. We go for a banoffee. This pastry is a combination of speculaas, chocolate and banana. Sounds delicious, doesn't it? The surrounding streets have a historic character. Here you will still find many streets with cobblestones and old houses.

We neatly follow the banks of the Thames and arrive at Tate Modern. This museum is bursting with modern art. The collection contains a number of gems, but also very crazy works that we hardly label as art. In addition to the collection, the building itself is also very special.

Further along the route we see the iconic London Eye. Here, too, the portfolio must be firmly invested for those who would like to see London from a height of 135 metres. We end up with Big Ben. This tower from 1859 is anything but 'big' by today's standards. It is part of The Palace of Westminster where the British Parliament sits. Nearby is Westminster Abbey. This abbey dates back to the 11th century and you can visit - how could it be otherwise - at a hefty price tag.
