Description by the author

An easy access circular walk from the market town of Norton on Derwent in Ryedale. The route performs a simple loop through the pavements and southern lanes, home to many horse racing stables, including a stretch along Whitewall which gives lovely views back across Norton and Malton. This walk is published through a collaboration with Ryedale District Council. For more visitor information on the area including events and accommodation, go to www.VisitRyedale.co.uk The walk has a couple of steady climbs and descents and follows tarmac paths throughout. There are no stiles, gates or steps on route, just one staggered barrier (which can be avoided if necessary). As such this walk would be suitable for pushchairs and rugged wheelchairs, assuming you can handle the climbs. Allow 1.5 hours. If you are looking for refreshments you will find several pubs and restaurants on Church Street and Commercial Street near the start of the walk. OS Map: Explorer 300 Howardian Hills and Malton. This walk follows public footpaths and bridleways which cross private and public land. Please respect people's privacy, keep dogs under control and remember the Countryside Code.
