Description by the author

This route takes you along the Charleroi-Willebroeck canal in Brussels. This part of the city still bears witness to its industrial past and over time, it has been converted into an area teeming with creative, innovative projects based on sustainable development and art: the urban farm at the Abattoirs, the MiMA contemporary art museum, indoor gardens, working-class and middle-class housing, restaurants with a Bel Mundo vegetable garden and the Belvue passive hotel just to name a few. On this bike ride along the canal, you will also discover a cosmopolitan city where all cultures mix and where street art colours the façades in many forms: with stickers, tags, frescoes, graffiti, stencils... And to make the experience even more unforgettable, hop onto the ‘Waterbus’ boat on the canal with your bike to travel back to the city centre in style.
