Description by the author

The cherry blossom tour is located in the Euregony, between Liège and Maastricht, and offers many advantages for cycle tourists.

With its 31 km route without traffic and its almost entirely flat terrain, this circuit offers a real pleasure ride for families. As soon as you leave, the tone is set: it is a pleasure to follow the course of the Meuse without a hitch. Without effort, we reach Lanaye where, in summer, you can cross the river, which is very unspoilt here, to cycle to Eijsden, in the Netherlands.

We leave the RAVeL to tackle the only slope of this circuit: an effort that pays off as we pass in front of the remarkable natural site of Mont Saint-Pierre, famous for its orchids and caves populated by bats. A descent and there is the Via Jecore, a green road, closed to all motorized traffic.

The road takes us to the entrance of the fortress of Eben-Emael, which guards the valley as a sentinel. As Kanne approaches, the scenery changes boldly and surprisingly.

From the small valley of the Geer we go to the 'Caster Trench' which divides the hill in two. The canal finds its way between the cliffs here. We continue to follow it to Hermalle-sous-Argenteau where we arrive again at the Meuse.
