Description by the author

The industrial heritage of the Molenbeek Valley is at the heart of the Herisem promenade. The start of this walk is at the CC de Meent in Alsemberg. From there it goes to the ducal church of Our Lady of Alsemberg which is located on the famous Kerkenberg.

Further down the hiking trail, on the banks of the Molenbeek, is the former Herisemmolen industrial complex. This complex, from which the promenade takes its name, is a well-preserved remnant of the once flourishing cardboard and paper industry on the Molenbeek. Be sure to visit and experience what life was like in a 19th century paper mill.
