Description by the author

During this varied tour, you will discover not only the "Brabant Ardennes" with the villages of La Roche, Bousval and Villers-la-Ville and their many rivers and valleys, but also the vast and fertile arable land on the plateau of "Brabants Haspengouw" with the village of Gentinnes.

It will probably be noticed that the tour often uses the GR trails. They guide you through forests where many forest paths and paths are inaccessible for private property.

You can avoid the fierce summer heat by walking on wide, narrow forest roads or forest edges where the canopy provides shade and hardwoods. Forests, often well-maintained and airy, make up more than fifty percent of the hiking trail.

Swimming while walking along the winding rivers: the Dyle and the Falise (tributary of the Dyle) in the commune of the castle of Bousval, the Ri d'Hé (tributary of the Thyle) in the small village of Hattain and La Thyle (tributary of the Dyle) in La Roche.

You walk except for a few paved strips, on narrow and wide forest roads, sometimes on a grassy path that needs a good mowing and sometimes on a bumpy paved road, worthy of Paris-Roubaix. On the plateau between La Roche and Gentinnes, you can drop dust from your shoes on dry dirt roads between vast fields of grain, potatoes and beets. Despite the beautiful hiking environment and the many quiet areas, we walk almost alone.

There are also some curious sites crossing our hiking trail:

- north of Villers-la-Ville, the ruins of Villers Abbey attract wide eyes.

- in the small agricultural village (with some curious big hooves) Gentinnes you enter the monastic domain of the Fathers of the Holy Spirit and visit the "Kongolo Memorial"
