Description by the author

This bike tour does not care about the border between the Netherlands and Belgium. You leave in Kieldrecht, but immediately you are in the Netherlands. You cycle in the direction of the Drowned Land of Saeftinge. This reminds us that the polder land through which you cycle was once won by man on the water. Through the border village of De Klinge and past some old remnants of creeks you cycle back to Kieldrecht...

1. Cycle behind the neo-Gothic St. Michael's Church on the right in Oud Arenberg. This street takes you out of the village. Continue straight until you reach the intersection where you take the third street on the left, Hertogenstraat. You are now in an open polder landscape. On the right in the distance you can see the disfiguring cooling towers of the nuclear power plant in Doel. At the end of the road you come to the intersection with the Pillendijk. Cross diagonally to the right and continue cycling on the straight road through the fertile polder fields. At the intersection with the Nieuw Arenbergstraat you drive straight ahead and you will arrive at the Muggenhoek. Turn left over the dike and follow the Zorgdijk. Here is border marker 269 and you cycle in the Netherlands. You follow a long straight asphalt road and cross the intersection with the Langestraat. To the left of the road are fields, to the right low-stemmed orchards. At the end you have to turn right and choose the ascending path on the left, which goes over the dike. On the other side, make a sharp left turn and follow the Parallelweg. You now cycle through the Koningin Emmapolder, with a dike on the right, behind which is the Drowned Land of Saeftinge.
2. At the next crossroads, drive straight ahead, past the Koningin Emmahoeve and then turn left onto the first road, Losannastraat. At the end you turn left and follow the dike. Cross it and follow the Louisastraat on the right, through the Louisapolder. Cross the intersection with Arenbergstraat and cycle straight on until you reach the T-junction. Here you turn left, the Beerweg, along the dike. You cross that dike and follow the Hoogestraat on the right, direction Clinge and Hulst. You cycle through the Nieuw-Kieldrechtsepolder. On the right in the distance you can see the tower of the St. Willibrordus Basilica in Hulst. Enjoy the open countryside and don't care about side roads. Cross the intersection with Statenboomweg and continue cycling straight until the end of the road. This way you end up in the Kijkuitstraat, which you follow to the left. And again you keep pedaling straight for a while. The Kijkuitstraat takes you, after you have crossed another roundabout, - where the street name changes to 's Gravenstraat - to the village bowl of Clinge. Another kilometer of straight pedaling and you cycle past border post 275 into the village bowl of De Klinge. You're back on home soil. Opposite the church, take the Kieldrechtstraat on the left. It ends a few hundred meters further on a roundabout. There you take the second exit on the right, the Oude Molenstraat. Further on, take the first street on the right, the Sluisstraat. You leave the side roads. At the T-junction, take the Rode Moerstraat on the left. That turn to the right after a while and later to the right again until you end up on a wider road that forms a right angle just there. You take the left leg, the Groenendijk.
3. To the left of this dike winds the Kieldrechtse waterweg, on the right it merges into the wide Geul. At the end of this dike, follow the Krekeldijk on the right. Now follows a beautiful piece of cycling on a winding, undulating path that sometimes runs up, sometimes next to the dike. The Krekeldijk opens onto a wide street. Here you cycle left into the Zandloperstraat. At the roundabout, turn right, direction Verrebroek (Binnendijkstraat). On the right is the beautiful Saleghem Creek. At the first quadrangle, take the Leestraat on the left. Don't worry about side roads and pedal further until, just before the end, you can turn right into Borringstraat. Straight on to the end. On the T, in the hamlet of Zwaantje, turn left and follow the Bloempotstraat. Ignore all side roads and cycle up to the Verrebroekse dijk (on the Bralstraat West). Cross it and follow it to the right. Then turn left with the road and at the first intersection choose left again (Turfbanken). Keep cycling straight until the end, without caring about side roads. On the T turn right and at the end, turn left (Creek). The departure point is nearby. On the right you see the Kleine Weel and on the left the nature reserve Creek with the Grote Geule.
