Description by the author

Welcome to the Buggenhoutbos! With this walk you come through a new part but also through a part of the 'old' forest. In the new part you will find a pole on each new tree species on which you can read which tree it is. We take you on the trail of ... the jay.

This bird is also sometimes called the tree planter. He can take some acorns in his throat and hide them in the ground. After six months, he still manages to find most of the acorns. The acorns he doesn't find germinate in the spring and become new trees! In the fall, one jay can bury as many as 100 acorns a day. That's about 8,000 per fall. Come along on a tour and we will tell you more about the trees in the forest.
