Description by the author

With this route we explore the creek area around Ostend. There are enough picnic areas, benches and catering (Stene) to make it a fun family day out !

Start at the Zandvoorde sports complex in Egellaan. There is also a skating rink here.

We arrive at De Keignaard . About 3,000 years ago this was still a peat area , later flooded by the sea. Via the Grintweg we arrive via the old railway line the Groene 62, which connected Ostend with Paris, at the viewpoint Grauweloze kreek.

Through the polder clay and past the Geodetic Base of Ostend we arrive in Stene with the bunkers of Päntzerstutzpunkt Stene.

Along the gardens of Stene, a historical polder landscape, we arrive in the centre of the village with its many restaurants . Jantje van Stene is waiting for us and we leave the village along the impressive cemetery.

We pass through the De Schorre sports park (which can also be used as a starting point ) and arrive at the De Lange Schuur petting zoo to reach the Geuzenbos .

We walk via De Grintweg to the De Zwaanhoek Nature Reserve and then return to the starting point via the centre of Zandvoorde.

Be sure to also consult the information about the sights once you are there . They will explain what you will see!
