Description by the author

This walk is a variant of the Pearl on the Semois: Bouillon: Giant's Grave - Moulin de l'Epine suspension bridge - Belvedere that starts in Botassart and has Bouillon as a stopover.

If you want to stop for a drink on a terrace , you can do this walk in the weekend because in Botassart Le Relais du Géant is open in the weekend. At the viewpoint there is also a cabin chez l'andré, but the open hours are unclear.

The walk is designed in such a way that there is only 1 heavy climb : the one from Bouillon to the Belvédère. A less steep path than the 'normal' steep road has also been chosen. By staying on top of the plateau between the Belvédère and the viewpoint " tombeau du géant" the altitude meters are 'limited'.

Start at the car park on Rue des Bastions.

We walk past some old fortifications and via the boulevard to the Pont de Cordemois.

Time for the climb to the belvedere . We do not choose the steep climb of the GR (for the enthusiasts: do what you can't help) but a less steep detour.

Climbing the belvedere is an effort that is worth it: a magnificent view over Bouillon is the reward!

We continue now and stay on the plateau for a while. A little further we descend to the valley of the Grand Ruisseau.

At a small bridge we start the climb to Botassart. Once at the road we can still go right to the domaine marial, or just go directly to the left towards the brasserie (open in the weekend).

This is how we arrive at the 'world famous' viewpoint "tombeau du géant" ( see the sight of it emerging from the mist).

We descend to the Semois via Le Moulin du Rivage. We follow the riverbank and cross it via the "Passerelle du moulin de l'épine" , a suspension bridge that connects the walking areas of Bouillon with those of Corbion.

We follow the path close to the bank of the Semois. On the other side looms the abbey of Clairfontaine , a beautiful sight! If you want, you can now make a detour for a climb to the viewpoint " Rocher du pendu" ...

We now arrive at a campsite that we pass along the banks of the Semois. On the road we take the tunnel under the castle of Godfrey to visit Bouillon.

Be sure to check out the sights once you're there. They'll explain what there is to see .
