Between the Lys and the Scheldt, the landscape is sloping. The Scheldt Cycle Path is proof of this, with beautiful views of the hilltops along the way. The Transfo site in Zwevegem is a former power plant that is now in full operation. Here we look for the towpath along the Bossuit – Kortrijk canal and follow it to the protected St. Peter's Bridge. The Guldenspoorpad, a former railway line, takes us to the Avelgemse Scheldemeersen, a beautiful nature reserve along the Scheldt. Here, too, we follow the traffic-free towpath upstream past Bossuit and the old Spiere swimming pool. Villages such as Helkijn, Spiere and Kooigem exude a certain charm. Around the Tonte Chapel in Kooigem, it is full of clothes of people who want to renounce diseases. We touch Kortrijk for a while and then return to Zwevegem via happy country roads.
This cycle path is integrated as a suggestion loop on the map of the cycle network of the Lys region. There will no longer be a separate leaflet with a map of the cycle route, but the signage will be retained.
