This walk takes you through Noord-Hageland, actually the core of the old 'historic' Hageland. In the north we have the exceptional orchard of pomologist Dirk Van den Eynde and in the south we step through the oldest vineyards of the region. At this distance of about 6 kilometers you will trek through a diversity of landscapes and views: fields, forests, orchards, hollow roads ... it's all there.
It is best to leave near Wijngaardstraat 56 in 3390 Houwaart (Tielt-Winge). That's just about the easiest place to park your car.
An alternative is the cemetery of Hofheid which is located about 800 meters north of the circuit.
The route runs for a large part on unpaved roads. Only a few parts are asphalt (Wijngaardstraat, Kriesberg and Langaard). When it has rained for a few days, you can expect muddy puddles, especially in the Mosting forest.
The route is not suitable for prams and wheelchairs. Rest benches are available in various places. This is the case, among other things, for the 'wine bank' and for Dirk Van den Eynde's orchard.
The route is difficult to reach by public transport. In the north there is the bus stop Nieuwrode Veeliedenstraat (N223), at the Crematorium Hofheide, about 800 meters from the route. In the south there is the bus stop Houwaart Houwaartseberg (Halderstraat), 900 meters from the Wijngaardstraat.
There is no catering on the route. For this you have to look out in the village centers of Nieuwrode and Houwaart.
Tip:
On the route we pass the Bogaerdenpad, an educational hiking trail. This walk runs right through it. Take the time to discover the signs.
Nearby there is the castle of Horst.
