Cycle these accessible bike route from Diest via the bicycle junction network to the Abbey of Averbode and back. The abbey was founded in 1134 on the initiative of Arnold II, Count of Loon. Throughout the centuries, the abbey has known many trials: looting, fires, the plague, ... The Gothic gatehouse, built in the 2nd half of the 14th century, is the oldest part still standing.
The old service buildings now house an abbey café, a cheese maturing plant, a bakery and an abbey store. At Het Moment, operated by the social economy company Sense, you can enjoy local delicacies.
