Description by the author

Sunday 11 September you can visit special monuments everywhere in Flanders. But have you ever thought of nature as a monument? Full of history, impressive pillars, special details and beautiful colors, a forest is a monument that continues to grow and evolve. That is why we would like to take you to the Aelmoeseneiebos in Gontrode. This route of about 1.6 km takes you past beautiful lanes and impressive giants. Moreover, the forest is close to cycle junction 85, so you can perfectly combine the short walk with a bike ride through the region.

Are you curious after this walk and do you want to know more about this beautiful forest? Be sure to take a look at https://aelmoeseneiebos.ugent.be/.

This route was created within the framework of BOOST, the forest expansion project of the 3 East Flemish Forest Groups, with the support of the Flemish Government, the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Province of East Flanders.
