Description by the author

Update 2025: around Spa there appear to be not 14 but 18 sources (of which 1 on private property). The walk was therefore extended . There is also a short detour to Cibles Bremer.

In 2021, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee decided to add 'The great spas of Europe ' to the World Heritage List. Spa, with its history of springs and thermal baths, is part of this list.

This challenging walk takes in all eighteen sources of Spa ('sources', 'Pouhons') one by one.

There are also shorter versions (called part 1 and part 2 ), which together also visit all eighteen sources. A nice version that visits 16 sources , is less steep (reverse direction) and shorter (16 km) can be found here.

Start in the centre of Spa , accessible by public transport. Parking in Spa is free but a few main streets are blue zone.

The sources visited are, in order:

- Source du Broxhou

- Source of the Pelerine Voie

- The fountain in the eyes

- Source of Barisart

- Source of the Geronstère

- Pouhon Pia

- Pouhon des Vers/Pouhon des Artistes

- Pouhon Delcor

- Source of the Queen

- Source of the Sauvenière

- Source Groesbeek

- Source Wellington

- Source Marie Henriette

- not accessible to the public: Watroz fountain in the park of the Foyer de Charité

- Source du Tonnelet

- Pouhon Pierre-Le-Grand

- Source Prince de Condé

- Pouhon with Arms of Austria

A full list can be found here: Parc naturel des Sources – Dico Voyage (dico-voyage.com) The exact coordinates are shown by clicking on the colored number in front of the source name.

The walk is quite tough: with the climb to the first sources, the 'promenade Meyerbeer' and a little further the 'promenade des artistes' there are 3 difficult parts at the beginning of the trail. But it is beautiful because of the spectacular view of the swirling stream that plunges down and that we cross via bridges .

At the Source de la Géronstère there is a beautifully situated brasserie that is open 7 days a week.

Also after 14 km a stopover can be inserted at the airport of Spa (just after the cibles Bremer ) which we pass by at barely a hundred meters. Brasserie 'Le sunset' is ideal for a snack and a drink while watching the activities at the airport. However, there is no time for a tandem jump ...

Along the promenade d'Orléans we descend almost to the sources around the Lac de Warfaaz. Along the Ravel we return to the centre.

Be sure to also consult the information about the sights once you are there . They will explain what you will see!

01/2022 - R02/2023: asphalt avoided - R03/2025: 4 additional sources and Cibles Bremer added.
