This walk visits 8 of the 18 sources of Spa ('sources', 'Pouhons'), namely those on the southern flanks and heights of Spa. There is also a "part 1" that visits the sources to the north and in the valley of the city.
In 2021, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee decided to add 'The great spas of Europe ' to the World Heritage List. Spa, with its history of springs and thermal baths, is part of this list.
The walk is part of the walk "in search of all (18) sources of Spa" which, in addition to all the sources, also visits most of the sights of this fashionable city and of which also a A shorter version exists " In search of the most important sources of Spa (shortest) " which only focuses on the sources.
Stopover after 5 km at Spa airport where Brasserie Le Sunset is open daily.
Start at the Barisart source.
The sources visited are, in order:
- Source of Barisart
- Source of the Geronstère
- Pouhon Pia
- Source of the Queen
- Source of the Sauvenière
- Source Groesbeek
- Pouhon Delcor
- Pouhon des vers/Pouhon des artistes
The start with 'Promenade Meyerbeer' is quite tough, but at the top there is a beautifully situated brasserie that is open 7d/7d at the Source de la Géronstère . To visit the third source (Pia) we have to go along a busy road and back/forth into the forest.
Passing by the Domaine de Bérinzinne and the remains of the shooting range (see sights to find them!) we arrive at Spa airport with Brasserie 'Le sunset', ideal for a bite to eat and a drink while watching the activities on the airport. However, there is no time for a tandem jump ...
We dive into the forest for the next 3 sources and back along the busier road to discover Pouhon Delcor . The walk returns along the beautiful 'Promenade des artistes'. It is beautiful because of the spectacular view of the swirling stream that plunges down and that we cross via 7 bridges .
Be sure to also consult the information about the sights once you are there . They will explain what you will see!
