Description by the author

The intention is to make this a day trip . We combine an exploration of the Uitkerkse polder with a visit and lunch at the Blankenberge marina .

Start at the visitor center of the Uitkerkse polder.

We go straight on the Kuiperscheeweg and straight on the Blankenbergse dijk Noord to Sint-Jan-op-den-Dijk to visit the Sint-Jobskapel , with which a strange story is connected. We continue to follow the road and turn right at the fork in the road to Copsweg. At a bend we turn left onto a country road. We are now completely in the nature reserve.

We reach the Blankenbergse Canal in the Vaartstraat. Here are some picnic tables. We turn right towards the Koeistraat , which runs parallel to the Blankenbergse Vaart. There are puddles of water everywhere that attract birds. We pass Over d'Eede, a five star B&B.

We reach the Blankenbergse Canal again and cross the Scharebrug . Here is a war memorial for a Waco CG-4A glider that crashed in World War II. There is also a picnic area . We now walk along the Scharebrugstraat and a little further we reach the Wulp hut.

Just before we reach the buildings of Blankenberge , we find Maantjes Kapelletje at the Bommelzwin water (read a fascinating story in the sights).

The Scharebrugstraat turns into the Kemmelbergstraat , which we follow to the Koninklijkebaan. We follow the path next to the bike path and a little further cross the tram tracks to walk along the A. Wittevrongel promenade by the marina . We see the water tower "Chaterdo" and reach the famous "Paraveng" in Blankenberge.

We walk through the Leopoldpark to the Zeedijk and smell the sea air. We turn left towards the port canal, where the Comte Jean Jetty lighthouse and the Sterken Dries monument are located.

The intention is to stay here for a while, have lunch,...

We return to the Scharebrugstraat the same way , but instead of crossing the Scharebrug , we continue straight on the Kuiperscheeweg. When we arrive at Hooistaat , we continue straight ahead to the Tureluur viewpoint. We return to the visitor center of the Uitkerkse polder.

Also, check out the sightseeing information while you're there. They tell you what you can see!
