Obersee trail

The Obersee cross-country ski trail in the back Defereggental valley may be quite short, but it lies at an altitude of around 2,000 meters, making it perfect for high-altitude training. It is groomed for skaters and classical cross-country skiing and leads in a circular route to the idyllic Obersee, where the Alpengasthof Obersee, open even in winter, is located on the western shore. A short distance above is the Staller Sattel, from which you can view down into the South Tyrolean Ahr Valley.
The trail starts at the terminus of the ski bus on the Defereggental road toward Staller Sattel. With several twists and turns, it runs to Obersee and the Alpengasthof Obersee on the opposite shore. The return to the starting point goes mostly parallel to the way there.
