This ride leads along the rushing Ziller river through the idyllic Zillergrund, a side valley branching off the larger Zillertal Valley. At 43.2 kilometres in length and with 1,800 vertical metres of climbing on quiet tarmac roads, it is perfect for e-bikers. Fields, cosy huts and pine forests all feature on the way from Mayrhofen to the Speicherteich Zillergründl reservoir. After stopping there for a rest, the ride continues to Adlerblick at 1,860 metres above sea level with its fabulous views of the reservoir and the Zillertal Alps.
The ride begins in Mayrhofen, at the Europahaus building in the Durster Straße. Follow the Durster Straße road for a few metres in a westerly direction to the intersection between the Hauptstraße and the Am Marktplatz roads. Head south past the Marienbrunnen fountain onto the Brandbergstraße road. After around 340 metres, bear right onto the Peter-Habeler-Straße and follow it to the point where it crosses the Zillergrundweg. Take the Zillergrundweg gently uphill for 7.2 kilometres along the banks of the Ziller river in an easterly direction through forest, past the settlement of Pignellen, the toll booth at Brandberg and Ritzlaste as far as Nößlrain and the Gasthaus Klaushof. Cross the bridge there and, 2.4 kilometres later, reach the Häusling-Alm and the Häusling power station at around 1,080 metres above sea level. From there itis 4.4 kilometres to the Gasthof in der Au at 1,260 metres. Continue east to the Bärenbadalm hut with its large car park. After the hut, turn left onto route 474 and head uphill. After the corner you reach a tunnel, followed by an up-and-down section to the huge dam wall of the Zillergründl reservoir. To get to the Adlerblick, turn left before you reach the dam wall and head uphill for around 400 metres to the next tunnel. The final push uphill is followed by a downhill section to the Adlerblick. Return along the same route.
