The small Bacheralm alpine farm is an idyllic gem in the heart of the Kitzbühel Alps. The lush floral decorations around the smallholding convey a warm welcome and a cutting board leaned up against the front door says: “Please ring if hungry or thirsty”. Munich-born Gisi Widauer has managed this alpine farm for many years and treats her guests to delicious delicacies. She even serves beef, even though she would never eat it herself. She cares for around 20 head of young cattle on her farm and has such a close relationship with her animals that eating one would be an act of sacrilege.
Bacheralm is just over a 1.5-hour walk from the Kirchdorf settlement in Gasteig. The trail starts opposite the Gasthaus Mitterjäger inn. Then just follow the signs. After passing the Metzgeralm hut, the trail leads over a small knoll and on to the Bacheralm hut.
