3. Aranya Prathet - Ta Phraya Bicycle Track

This bicycle track is a 85 Km bike ride from Aranya Prathet over Khok Sung District to Ta Phraya being the 3rd track of the Sa Kaeo Province Bicycling Tour.

The track starts in Aranya Prathet and we follow the highway No 33 until the junction with Rd No 3446. We turn north into the latter and continue passing by Prasat Sadok Kok Thom. We leave Rd No 3446 further north via an off side road linking up with Rd No 3393. We continue via small roads to Prasat Khok Lon. From the latter we head to Rd No 3486 and turn south towards to Ban Kho Khlan. The roads are mostly fully paved, with exception of some shortcuts between provincial roads. Main points of interest are Prasat Sadok Khok Thom and Prasat Khao Lom.

The tour will take about 5-6 hours depending on the weather conditions and your physical fitness. The track is fully paved. There are passages involved over main roads with rather heavy traffic. Be careful in these locations. Some Points of Interest are mainly for reference.

Tips and Warnings

Be cautious as traffic is sometimes chaotic and dangerous. Motor vehicles often fail to see cyclists and pedestrians, so you must closely watch out for them. Motorcycles are a common cause of local accidents. Dogs and potholes can also be dangerous, especially in remote areas.

Be visible and wear yellow or orange colors. Use flashing rear bike lights during your bicycle trip. It is inadvisable to drive at night due to the lack of lighting.

Weather can be very hot, so make sure to drink plenty of fluids and wear sun block. Cover the body parts as much as possible and wear a hat or even better a bike helmet. Stay hydrated!

Be sure to have a tire repair kit with you, as flat tires are common due to the badly maintained roads and the lack of bicycle paths.
