Cycle route - Kerkrade - Mijnroute 1; along the origins of coal mining

Welcome to beautiful South Limburg and especially to the municipality of Kerkrade. During the Year of Mines (2015), the present cycle route was drawn up. This gives an insight into limburg's mining past. Cyclists pass objects and monuments that remind us of Limburg's mining past. It is a route in a series of four routes, which together cover most of the Eastern and Western Mining District .

What is special about the route is that so-called time windows have been placed in various places. The time windows give an impression of the former layout of a number of historic locations.
