Stage 9 of the Dover-Hull bike tour of England and Wales.
Waunfawr - Chester: 119km
The ride departs from a campsite in Waunfawr, which is also often used as a base for walks or bike rides in Snowdonia.
The ride itself crosses Snowdonia through the main valley. This makes for an impressive, even fairytale-like landscape in the first part of the ride. The climb in the main valley is very doable (4 km at 6.5% average) and breathtakingly beautiful. After leaving the Snowdonia Nature Park, you will enter very undulating terrain with often short but very steep slopes that can reach up to 25%. The ride can be labeled (by its length and altimeters) as the queen ride of this cycling trip. Arrive in Chester, a pleasant walled town located on the River Dee.
