'Week of the BOS walk' of freinetschool TintelTuin in Zoutleeuw (www.tinteltuin.be).

During 'the week of the BOS 2013', all Flemish schools of the 3rd grade primary education were encouraged to work on the theme 'Nature goals'. The European initiative NATURA 2000 sets out their conservation objectives to restore habitats and species.

The children of freinetschool TintelTuin in Zoutleeuw liked to participate in a 'cherished neighbor walk' around their school. According to the students, some tingling green spots should certainly not be missing: the Wittebeek (see student working group on www.tinteltuin.be) and the Provincial Domain 'Het Vinne' (coloured as NATURA 2000 area).

The walking route is 7.44 km long. Start and arrival point are at freinetschool TintelTuin, Budingenweg 2. There is as much walking as possible along old neighborhood and pedestrian roads, but in order to make a nice loop, the children sometimes had to follow the normal lane or deviate from the flattened paths.

Central to the walk are the cherished neighbors of Zoutleeuw: the acorn mouse, yellow bunting, dwarf bat, house martin, sickle coral fungus and the kite monkey. But also the owl (cherished neighbor of Flemish Brabant) likes to show itself in this area.
