De Kastelenvallei-route is lang en lastig, misschien wel één van de meest uitdagende routes in de streek. Vooral de eerste klim naar Macchino is bijzonder steil en durft de benen 'af te snijden'! Maar... de groene omgeving maakt alles goed en brengt je in middeleeuwse dorpjes, die in terrasvorm tegen de hellingen gebouwd zijn. Als je aan de andere kant van de vallei bent, lijken ze onbereikbaar maar wees gerust, mits wat moed en opoffering raak je er. De 2800 hoogtemeters krijg je er gratis bij, vergeet dus niet te bevoorraden waar het kan!
