Esch-sur-Sûre is a commune in the canton of Wiltz in western Luxembourg. The municipality covers an area of 51.25 km2 and had 272 inhabitants on 1 January 2007.
Esch-sur-Sûre is located on the banks of the Sûre. Near the resort, a large reservoir was built in this river. Tourism is an important source of income for the municipality. At one height, there is a ruined castle from the 10th century with a panoramic view of Esch-sur-Sûre and the river of the same name. Near the town there are two large campsites on the river. The water is freezing, even in summer: it is the water of the upper reservoir. It is better to swim in the reservoir, as it is also a recreation station. Source: wikipedia.org
The hike starts in the parking lot at the entrance of the village. It starts with a difficult climb behind the hotel 'Le Postillon', after which we pass the cemetery of E-s-S to climb a little longer, dive into the forest and start again on the N15.
In the meantime we stay at the same level, no more hard climbs, only descents. After crossing the N15, you will drive to Heiderscheidergrund, where you can admire the beautiful octagonal church. Here the promenade deviates from the signs to make a crossroads, after which the signs can be followed again. We continue on the "Camping Bissen" and then along the banks of the Sauer along the reservoir "E-s-S" and "Camping Im Aal" to the starting point.
