This loop is an exact copy of the fun bicycle loop that was ridden on June 2, 2013. It was specially made for the cycling event of the Facebook fan group https://www.facebook.com/FietsEnWandelbrugE19
(Strong shortening of https://www.routeyou.com/route/view/571534/fietsroute-de-4-fietsbruggen-lus-tussen-zemst-en-vilvoorde-322km-20mi.nl )
This bicycle loop is particularly child-friendly and low-traffic. In addition to the beautiful bicycle bridges that are ridden, there are also three castles and the Floordam forest that are quickly passed.
Quick summary:
1. Start at the Zemst library (Square of Tolerance). Shorten Zenne to Moto's Deschouwer, then to Houtem and Schoewever for bicycle bridge 1.
2. Follow Woluwelaan to bicycle bridge 2.
3. Continue through Peutie, along the west side the Floordambos, then over Fietsrug 3 (the longest in Flanders)
4. Cross Floordambos, along the E19 and follow theTervuursesteenweg
5. Take the bicycle tunnel at the Bloso entrance towards Hofstade, then turn left on the railway line to the Vriezenbroek for the location of the intended bicycle bridge (On the Barebeek under the railway line and follow it on your left until the only remaining bridge over the Senne
6. Because there is currently no bicycle bridge over the E19, we take the detour via the via Schumanlaan to the parking of the Visput. This is a detour of more than 3.5km! See this POI for the redirect that had to be taken:
If the bicycle and pedestrian bridge were there, the distance to be covered would be barely 250m (At the parking lot of the Visput, the intended bicycle bridge could descend next to the railway line). This would be a reduction of 93%!
7. Via the Galgenberg we go to Ons Huis in Weerde for a drink and additional information about the advantages of the intended bicycle bridge over the E19.
