Wist je dat de Romeins geograaf en militair Plinius in 48 n. Chr. hier langs kwam. Dat weten we omdat hij beschreef dat de mensen van Kelmis aan het delven waren op zoek naar stenen. Meer specifiek zink. Plinius was zowel Romeins militair als letterkundige en amateur-wetenschapper. Hij werd beroemd omdat hij stierf tijdens de uitbarsting van de Visivius in de buurt van Pompei toen hij zijn vrienden wou redden met een schip.
