The Brabant Castle Route leads you past three of the most beautiful castles in Brabant. The route connects the medieval castles of Helmond, Geldrop and Heeze. In addition to these special castles, the route runs through beautiful nature reserves such as Het Goor, Molenheide and Strabrechtse Heide. This extensive bike tour runs over the cycle junction network, so you are assured of the most beautiful places.
Helmond Castle
In the center of Helmond is the centuries-old castle of Helmond. The castle is one of the best preserved medieval castles in the Netherlands. Lodewijk Berthout van Berlaer, Lord of Helmond, probably started construction between 1325 and 1350. From the beginning, the square perimeter, the large, round and projecting towers at every corner and the moat were planned. The family showed its power with this building and provided a strong and strategic point for the defense of the northeast border of the Duchy of Brabant. The shape of the castle was in line with the prevailing castle architecture of the time.
Now the Gemeentemuseum Helmond is located in the castle. Visit the versatile exhibitions with ancient and contemporary art, this is possible in the beautiful medieval castle but also in the contemporary Boscotondohal. Get to know the many faces of the museum and the pearl of Helmond!
Open Tuesday to Friday: 10:00 to 17:00
Saturday, Sunday and public holidays: 12:00 to 17:00

Geldrop Castle
Right in the center of Geldrop, hidden behind centuries-old trees, is the castle of Geldrop. The castle serves as an exhibition space, among other things. On the estate of the castle there is a petting zoo, flower garden, insect garden and an IVN documentation center. Plenty to see and experience on the estate.

Heeze Castle
Just outside the center is Castle Heeze. Although it is not located in the center, it has been the center of the Lordship of Heeze, Leende and Zesgehuchten for centuries. Since the 12th century, the castle was owned by various families as a fief of the Duke of Brabant.
