LAKE GARDA BIKE TOUR
LAKE GARDA BIKE TOUR

Beautiful route south-east of Lake Garde.
Starting point is the city of 'Garda'.
Our hotel was located in this area. The connection to any other point of this route is of course perfectly possible.

The route is really worth it!
No car, except the last part towards Bussolengo. However, I have never had traffic problems on this stretch.

So the starting point is Garda.
During the first part, the route winds along the busy road that runs along the lake. As a car driver, I definitely don't like this road, but with the bike I always find it exciting. After all, you drive as fast as cars and eventually drive on one of Europe's most famous tourist routes.
Pay close attention to the pedestrian crossing. These have priority, even if they walk around inattentively in flip-flops!

We leave Lake Garde near Lazise. A short gentle climb follows.
From here you continue on very quiet roads parallel to Lake Garda. For example, you drive behind the Gardaland amusement park.

Then we go to Verona, more precisely to Bussolengo. We pass through some less touristy but beautifully located villages.

From Bussolengo the route winds along a brand new cycle path (the so-called "cycle paths"). This bike path is really worth a detour. Well-functioning asphalt, special bike bridges on intersections (are there any in Italy?), as well as on a meter-high aqueduct.

At the end of this bike path along the canal there is a very nice climb. Here, too, you will continue cycling along a cycle path. It was my first experience with a bike path with hairpin bends!!

Up to here, the route was almost completely flat.
Now we start the climb towards Prada.
From Rivoli Veronese we now cross Costermano, where the long but beautiful kim begins.

The route follows the main road, but it is certainly not too busy. It is true that you will surely meet many other cyclists on this route over the weekend. After all, it is also very popular with local cyclists.

The climb takes some time, but it is very varied. Especially from the exit for Torri del Benaco (here we will turn off in the descent), you will be regularly presented with the panorama of Lake Garda.

We go up to Prada at the large parking lot. This is the top. For the descent we make a U-turn.
You can also drive further over the top and then descend which you end further north on the shore of the lake. However, this is a very steep descent of 20% and more. Cramps in the arms assured. On some internet forums I read that this descent was not so nice to drive.
But why take this descent when you are presented with a beautiful descent towards Garda along Albisano? Very varied, fast, nice view, .... Do not hesitate.
As for this descent, there is also an alternative. In Albisano you do not go directly to Garda, but continue the technical descent to Torri del Benaco. From here you can grind the last kilometers with the large mill along the lake, up to Garda.

Enjoy the ride!!
