Description by the author

A large part of this route takes you a concrete path next to the Ourthe. An ideal opportunity to enjoy this natural beauty. Where the Ourthe merges with the Lembrée, you arrive at the Ferme de Palogne, a leisure area where there is a lot to live. Ideal to make this trip a day trip. Unless you are satisfied with a ride that sometimes makes a firm appeal to the calf muscles.

1. Park your car on the Quai de Batty (V), on the left bank (centre side) of the Ourthe, to the left or right of the bridge. Climb to the bridge and pedal through the center of Hamoir, away from the Ourthe. Cross the railway and at the crossroads turn diagonally left, direction Durbuy. A little further on the road to Durbuy turns left. You continue to follow the rue du Néblon straight, direction Dinant. You climb gently through the valley of the Neblon, which descends on the left. In Hamoir, this river flows into the Ourthe, not far from the bridge where you left. You pass in front of the nameplate of l'Ouffet and arrive at the hamlet of Néblon-le-Pierreux. Here you turn left, direction Hermanne. The necessary climb along a road with a good amount of traffic is over. You now start a beautiful journey on mostly narrow, quiet and rural roads. Cross the Neblon by the bridge and climb through the forest on a narrow, winding and hilly forest road. In a bend, you leave a road and cross a bridge (this is the second bridge you encounter). A little further, you pass in front of the Hermanne-Durbuy nameplate. At the T-junction, turn right, direction Gîte La Laiterie. At the next T, with a chapel, turn left. You pass a water tower in the open landscape and can immediately enjoy a wonderful view. Skip a road on the left and continue pedaling along a narrower paved road with GR signs on the side. Strongly upwards. Ignore the secondary road on the left, at Croix Mouchette (cross in front of a tree), and continue cycling straight until the narrow paved road turns left-right. Immediately afterwards, the road splits. Choose the path down between the meadows on the left, pass a farm, then go back up. Ignore the back roads and continue straight. Continue cycling through the agricultural center of Longueville. One kilometer after the sign at the end of the agglomeration, you arrive at another road. Turn left towards Durbuy. Be careful, because more traffic passes through here. It continues to undulate to a crossroads. Here you turn left again, direction Tohogne. The road is now a little wider.
2. Past the Tohogne agglomeration sign and with the Romanesque church in sight, take Rue de la Fontaine diagonally on the left. At the end of this road for local traffic, turn left and pass a playground, away from the center. Entre Deux Soyes is called the road, which follows you past a field cross, the cemetery and a cell phone tower to the end. Turn right and a little further, at the T-junction, turn right again. On the left, you see a curious football field on a slope, near a school. Ignore a separate bike lane across the street, as it turns right, towards Tohogne. After school, you take the hairpin turn to the left, towards Houmart. Don't worry about back roads and enjoy the beautiful view in this hilly landscape. At the intersection in the center, with the church in front of you, turn right, pass a blue road sign indicating two intersections streets on the right. At the crossroads straight and then the first road on the right. According to an ancient sign, you now drive towards Verlaine. Don't worry about side roads and get off on the Hamoir-Barvaux road. Cross it carefully and continue your way to Verlaine. You can still go down, with the stream of Nansenioule on your right. You cross it after a bend and then you pass in front of the church by the path of Charançons to the center of the village. Ignore the dead end chemin du Chinesse on the left and you will arrive at Place Vendôme with the castle (1) with 'integrated' chapel. Now take the street on the left in a downhill line.
3. Via Rue de Sy you go down to the railway bridge over the Ourthe. You pedal under the bridge and after a few hundred meters the path is made car-free by a pole and you can continue cycling right next to the river on a narrow concrete bike path. A wonderful piece of cycling along the winding Ourthe with the rocks of Sy on the other bank. Then you arrive at a pedestrian bridge with a walkway to push the bike. On the other side, you are in the parking lot of the leisure area Ferme de Palogne (2). Leave the car park, cross the Lembrée and follow the Val Jolie tourist route, direction Vieuxville. You pass the Moulin de Logne, ignore the rue Saint-Cergue on the right, then start climbing slowly, including on heavy speed bumps and past the Domaine du Chantier holiday center. At the Y-junction, take the Montée Thier de Logne on the left. There will be a road coming from the right. Continue cycling until you reach a crossroads. Turn left here. You now follow the road to Sy for a long time, without worrying about secondary roads. In addition, you can enjoy beautiful views. At the junction of Chambres d'hôtes B&B La Paresse, turn right towards Hamoir. You now follow the Route du Filot, climb gently and pass in front of the Filot nameplate. Further on, carefully cross the busy Huy-Malmédy road and pass the Filot agglomeration sign to the centre. At the fork, follow rue du Logne on the right, direction church. At the crossroads, turn left on the Place des Tilleuls and at the junction of the white building, you take the rue de Godinry on the right. You leave the village and don't worry about secondary roads until you come to a sign directly indicating Insegotte. Here you take the hairpin bend to the left.
4. You now follow part of the Route Buissourière tourist route. Nice detail: on many Dutch sites, the same route is indicated as a climbing route for cyclists. You will notice that they are not entirely wrong. You start a long climb, but just after the Godinri farm, you will be rewarded with a magnificent panorama on the left. From now on, you start going down. Back to civilization, take the first street on the left in front of the chapel of the Mount. You descend on a hollow road to a T-junction. Turn left, still on the Buissonière road, through an open agricultural landscape. Beware of cars that reach speed on straights! One kilometre after the Hamoir nameplate, turn right onto the road to Xhignesse. The picturesque hamlet, with a few farms and houses around the Romanesque church (3) on a hill, offers a beautiful view. At the fork, choose the left. You pass by the unique church or try to peek inside. At the crossroads a little further, keep left and go down to the banks of the Ourthe. However, the road moves away from the river. Almost at the cemetery, near the residential area, take the first street on the right that you come across, rue de Briqueterie. Pedal to the banks of the Ourthe and follow it to the left, towards the bridge. Pedal below and immediately take the street to the bridge on the left. Cross them, go back to the starting point. For a snack and a drink, you can walk along this dock and into the center.
