Die Operation Chastise (17. Mai 1943) zielte darauf ab, während des Zweiten Weltkriegs drei Staudämme zu zerstören: die Mohne-Talsperre, die Edertalsperre und die Sorpe-Talsperre. Zwei Dämme wurden zerstört und verursachten riesige Überschwemmungen und Tausende von Menschen wurden getötet.
