Effingen ist eine Einwohnergemeinde im Schweizer Kanton Aargau. Sie gehört zum Bezirk Brugg und liegt rund sieben Kilometer westlich des Bezirkshauptorts im oberen Fricktal; sie ist nicht mit der Nachbargemeinde Elfingen zu verwechseln.
Das Dorf liegt an der Westflanke des Bözbergs und ist auf drei Seiten von sanft ansteigenden Hügeln des Tafeljuras umgeben. Dazu zählen der Rugen im Nordwesten , der Bränngarten im Norden, die Sennhütten im Nordosten , die Stelli im Osten sowie der Barnig und der Widräck im Südosten . Ein kurzes Seitental führt in Richtung Nordosten; in diesem liegt der Weiler Chästel , mehr als zwei Kilometer vom Dorfzentrum entfernt. Dazwischen liegt an einem sonnigen Südhang ein Rebberg.
