Hittnau ist eine politische Gemeinde im Bezirk Pfäffikon des Schweizer Kantons Zürich. Zu der Gemeinde gehören die Ortschaften Ober- und Unterhittnau, Isikon, Hasel, Dürstelen, Schönau und Hofhalden.
Hittnau wurde als Hittenouva im Jahr 905 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt. Es liegt im Zürcher Oberland oberhalb des Pfäffikersees, an der Verbindungsstrasse zwischen dem Glatttal und dem Tösstal. Die Kempt durchfliesst das Dorf als erste Ortschaft nach ihrer Quelle. Der höchste Punkt der Gemeinde ist der Stoffel mit 928 m ü. M., den tiefsten Punkt hat die Gemeinde beim Tobelweiher auf 604 m ü. M. Das Gemeindegebiet befindet sich grösstenteils an dessen westlichem Ausläufer. Von der Gemeindefläche dienen 48,1 % der Landwirtschaft, 37,3 % ist mit Wald bedeckt, 3,5 % ist Verkehrsfläche und 9,5 % Siedlungsgebiet, 0,4 % sind Gewässer.
